Essay On Modernization : Modernization is a term used to describe the transformation of a society from traditional, rural, agrarian society to a secular, urban and industrialized society. This is what our societies are going through. With all kinds of development in medical, technological arena, slowly our societies are transforming very fast. Earlier there were less number of urban areas or small town areas. Most of the places were pristine landscapes with natural surroundings, amidst nature’s beauty . Human beings also thrived in such places. They didn’t even knew if they really required a television to amuse themselves. Or a telephone to connect with someone they cared. All these never existed once upon a time. Children never imagined beyond their clay models or simple plastic dolls or their own kitchen set made of trash items . Now things are not like that.

Effects Of Modernization

Effects of modernization can be seen everywhere. With the expansion of industrialization now everything is industry made. People have no time to spend on making rag dolls for their children to play with. They will directly buy an xbox or a barbie doll. Nowadays mothers don’t have time to knit sweaters for their children or any other member of the family because in modern societies maximum women choose to work. Even food materials are processed. Inextricably, modern society can be linked with the emergence of industrial society.

Industrialism is a way of life that encompasses profound economic, social, political and cultural changes. It is by undergoing the comprehensive transformation of industrialization that societies become modern. Now those less interrupted natural beauty with human habitat have become landscapes of concrete. With lots of spectacular bridges, beautiful roads and everything else. To have a taste of nature people living in many societies have to go to a park nearest to their homes. Modernization is a constant phenomena. It never stops. Modernization brings changes and those changes receive impact from the present in either good or bad way. But it never rests. In a modernized society discussions are open as compared to what had been in the past. Promiscuity is also common with children being exposed to adult issues and complexities far sooner than the preceding generation. Nowadays people feel less about their belonging from a closely knit society. Joint families are disintegrated into smaller ones due to necessities aroused by certain external compulsions. Everything else makes children matured or adapted sooner than they have to. They do not get the chance of enjoying their innocent childhood properly. They are thrown into competition soon.

Upto certain point only the modern societies carries the institution and values of a society along with it. Beyond that point modernization brings all the discontentment written above. Modern societies claim to be free from domination by tradition. Because of this loss of culture also occurs.

Modernization is similar to any other social phenomena because it too have its effect and side effects. Modernization is a parameter of our development and human achievement from where we started. Of Course it makes our life easy and luxurious. But at the same time it brings all these disadvantages too. Its upto us where we would like to focus. Its neither a boon nor a bane by itself.
